  • British electronic duo Orbital have announced their retirement. Brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll have been making music together since the 80′s, but according to their official statement: “Nothing lasts forever and it’s time to stop.” Phil wasted no time announcing his own solo project called 8:58.   • BBC Radio Host Zane Lowe has decided to put together an entire new soundtrack for the 2011 film Drive. It’s an odd task, but intriguing none the less. Lowe’s improved soundtrack features songs from The 1975, BANKS, SBTRKT, Bastille, and many more. Chvrches have shared their contribution, a warm, pop track called “Get Away.” [Stereogum]

  • Atlanta rapper Makonnen Sheran, better known as iLoveMakonnen, has shared the video for his track “Tuesday,” which features Drake. It shows a fun juxtaposition of people throwing down at the club while others tackle the mundane tasks of everyday life. [Pitchfork]


  • Big Star will release their only live concert video Live in Memphis on DVD on November 4. The band was filmed in 1994 during their hometown performance at the New Daisy. Today you can hear the remastered version of “Daisy Glaze,” which will also be featured on the 20-track Live in Memphis double LP. [CoS]
